Serigraph receives Green Tier II Environment Contract
Serigraph specializes in decorative, functional, and brand identity solutions for customers in appliance, automotive, consumer, medical, electronics, industrial and point-of-purchase printing markets. We have been a Green Tier participant at the Tier 1 level for five years.
In that time, we have made significant environmental strides. It has reduced energy consumption from 18 million kilowatt hours to 14 million kilowatt hours. It has reduced hazardous waste by more than two-thirds – going from over 77 thousand pounds to just over 23 thousand pounds of hazardous waste. And Serigraph has achieved a 25 percent reduction in Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) emissions and a 32 percent reduction in hazardous air pollutants. “This Tier 2 contract proves that the environment and the economy can move forward together. The environment wins because we have agreed to ambitious emission reductions, and the economy wins because the company will be subjected to less micro-regulation,” said Sean Torinus, Serigraph CEO.

Serigraph Receives SGIA Sustainability Award
Serigraph has received the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association’s (SGIA) 2011 Sustainability Recognition Award. According to SGIA, sustainability is more than just going green. Sustainability looks at the people, the profit and the planet and the companies who have made changes today that will have an enormous impact on the community in the future. To be eligible for the award, companies had to first submit a copy of their sustainability policy. The winners had policies that focused on reducing waste, creating recycling programs and forming a “green committee” in the workplace.
Serigraph Receives Green Master Award
Serigraph was one of several Wisconsin firms to receive the first Green Masters award during the Third Annual Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council conference in Neenah held on December 8, 2010.
Serigraph has undertaken a number of sustainability projects including reducing water usage by 65 percent, using innovative heat exchangers to conserve 450,000 kilowatts per year and inventing the first large-scale bio-filter for the printing industry as part of efforts to remove petrochemicals from ink. Several of Serigraph’s executives and managers volunteer in leadership positions with Wisconsin Chapter of The Nature Conservancy, the Ozaukee Washington Land Trust, Partners for Clean Air and 1000 Friends of Wisconsin.
The Green Masters designation is the highest honor in the Green Masters Program established by the Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council. Candidates are judged on a comprehensive range of sustainability issues from energy and natural resource use to education outreach and purchasing. Fourteen Wisconsin companies have earned the Green Masters designation.

Wisconsin 75 Sustainability Award
The 2010 Wisconsin 75 listed Serigraph as one of the state’s top privately held companies. This year however, we have also been recognized with a Distinguished Performer Award for Sustainability, specifically for our exceptional environmental practices. This annual award recognizes “green” companies that balance economic growth, social equity and environmental management.
Wisconsin companies are named to the Wisconsin 75 list simply for being large. In contract, the Distinguished Performers are selected based upon how each company actually goes about its business. The competition is tough. This is a great honor for all of us at Serigraph.
